Black Friday brings SmackDown’s TV numbers down

The Nov. 27 edition of SmackDown was an interesting case. On the one hand, it was the blue brand’s follow-up from a major PPV. On the other, it fell on the day after Thanksgiving. Thanks to the pandemic, however, this wasn’t a usual holiday. What would the ratings look like?

Turns out they were down a bit across the board, but perhaps not as low as they might have gone without Survivor Series fallout.

Average viewership across both hours dipped just below two million for the first time in a month, to 1.99 million. Ratings were flat or down slightly. SmackDown finished behind The Grinch and the Minions in the 18 – 49 year old demographic.

And here’s our running tracker of overnight numbers for the new season, but you can access the tab of year one numbers here (all data still via Showbuzz Daily).

We’ll see if the build for TLC is interesting to cause a bounce back next week. The holidays can drag WWE’s December numbers down, but this isn’t a typical December.
