Quick hits

Tom Lawlor has achieved greatness by defeating Low Ki to win the Opera Cup tournament. Team Filthy celebrated in style on a private jet from Condom Depot and chilling beer inside the Opera Cup trophy. They also used the trophy as a urinal.

In Lawlor’s state of drunkenness, he made a special request to CEO Court Bauer. It appears that the Filthy Island dream will soon become a reality.

Locations in consideration to host Filthy Island include Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Corsica, and Puerto Rico.

In a media Q&A with Darren Paltrowitz, Lawlor explained the decision behind wearing shorts shorts.

“It’s a multifaceted thing. One of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, Phil Baroni, was known for wearing the short Daisy Duke jean shorts, so I decided I’m going to pay homage. Much like I’ve done in entrances, weigh-ins, fights, all that stuff in the past, I paid homage to a legendary character.

And, it just so happened to be that I’ve been on a crusade, I guess you could say, for about a year to prove to everybody that the Von Erichs, they’re are all hat and no cattle. So, I am here, I was here, I really don’t care so much about them anymore, because I’m the Opera Cup champion. But, I was going to show them how a real suburban cowboy does things. Then this company threw my cowboy hat in a crowd in Philadelphia.

Plus, my ass looks great in them.”

Lawlor also poked fun at Alexander Hammerstone in the same conversation. When asked who Lawlor would prefer wrestling if granted a title shot, Mr. Filthy chose Hammerstone over Jacob Fatu. Lawlor viewed Hammerstone’s chicken legs as easy pickings for his ground game.

Low Ki showed his fighting spirit in defeat to Lawlor and may be paying the price in injury.

Low Ki underwent testing on his knee. The verdict is a grade 1 knee sprain. Low Ki should be able to compete again in mid January.

Back to Lawlor, he received a referee shirt from SDL as a Christmas gift. I don’t know what that is supposed to mean. Could he be officiating the Von Erichs’ upcoming title bout against the Dirty Blondes? Watch for yourself and come up with theories.

Septimo Dragon was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was rushed to the hospital for surgery in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. It is believed to be a hit-and-run. Mas Lucha reports that sources say he is in stable condition. Well wishes for his recovery.

MLW held winter meetings with promoters from across the globe. Plans are being discussed for talent sharing and Super Series events. The goal is to collaborate for dream matches.

MLW is now available on Roku. Channel 230 is your hookup.

Will you join Tom Lawlor in wearing short shorts in homage to Phil Baroni? Which dream matches would you like to see MLW pull off?
