Heartbreaking setback for Tegan Nox looms over NXT Injury Report

WWE Network

At the start of this week’s NXT, a backstage attack by Candice LeRae wrote Tegan Nox out of the Battle Royal to determine who would challenge Women’s champion Io Shirai’s at TakeOver on Oct. 4.

In the moment, it seemed like a way to further the ongoing Nox/LeRae story. The real-life friends have been building a feud for weeks, and this isn’t the first time someone has turned on Tegan & targeted one of her surgically repaired knees (see also: Kai, Dakota).

Candice went on to win the match, which will put her feud with the Girl with the Shiniest Wizard on hold for another couple weeks. Perhaps that should have been our first indication this wasn’t entirely kayfabe, as rumors now suggest the 25 year old Nox has suffered her third knee injury in the last four years.

Matt Camp’s NXT Injury Report from the Sept. 23 edition of the show plays into those fears. Camp’s video series is a mix of fact & fiction, and WWE has used it to break news of legitimate injuries in the past. Sadly, it seems Tegan’s inclusion here could be one of those instances.

Here’s the full Report, and a list of what it covers:

  • Tegan Nox – undergoing MRI for torn ACL
  • Cameron Grimes – day-to-day with a “tweaked” knee
  • Austin Theory – day-to-day with back spasms
