Sonya Deville attends the Human Rights Campaign’s New York Gala

Sonya Deville attended the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) New York Gala that took place over the weekend on Feb. 1. The HRC is the largest LGBTQ advocacy group in the United States. They focus on the protecting and furthering of equal rights for the LGBTQ community. Deville took to her social media to acknowledge her humble presence.

Although she wasn’t a speaker or honoree this year, Deville spoke highly of the annual event and what it meant to her. She showed admiration to be in a room of like minded individuals such as herself who fight for equality everyday. This year marks the 19th year this event has been active and is said to house about 1,000 people.

Deville applauded the honorees this year which included model and actress Naomi Campbell who received the HRC Global Advocacy Award. The other honoree was broadway legend and actress Kristin Chenoweth who received the HRC Ally for Equality Award. She stated that the speeches these ladies gave were impactful and resonated with her strongly.

Hopefully one day we will see Deville honored at this event.
