SmackDown recap & reactions: Give me what I want

Forget about Randy Orton and Roman Reigns.
I want Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns.
Reigns started the show and said SmackDown is the island of relevancy. Jey Uso knows about relevancy now, because he went from being an unknown Uso to being main event level. I absolutely loved this tidbit.
Drew McIntyre appeared on the blue brand! He acknowledged Heyman and asked if he missed him. He said he’s going to beat Orton on Monday and a lot has changed since the last time they were in the ring together at the Royal Rumble.
He called Roman out for disappearing for months after WrestleMania and that was a bit weird considering most people know why Roman left. However, Drew using being the top guy in his absence I get bringing that up. Jey Uso came in to defend his cousin, since last week disrespect was a big no no, and demanded to take care of Drew. Backstage, Reigns ripped Jey a new one for coming in and getting involved when he didn’t call for Jey.
This was wonderful. Jey got the confidence to step up and defend anyone who disrespected his bloodline, and Reigns just took the wind out of him. The layers here are great. Reigns only summons Jey when he feels like it, and wanted to prove that he’s the top dog, but Jey trying to steal his thunder was a bad idea.
So Drew and Jey had themselves an unsanctioned match, and Jey really put up the fight. Reigns came out and told Jey he doesn’t care if he beats Drew or not, he needs to make him understand. And then Jey got Claymored and lost.
The staredown, y’all. Reigns and McIntyre have WrestleMania main event energy between them. While I would rather have Big E face Roman at WrestleMania this year, I want to see Roman and Drew.
Give me what I want.

Sasha fell for it – Sasha came out and said that the haters said she wouldn’t defend her title, but she proved them all wrong. She’s at the top of her game but she’s putting the women on notice, and then she started to mention Carmella and Bayley came out. What she didn’t realize was that Carmella would take advantage and attack her from behind.
It would appear Bayley literally just came out to distract Sasha, because once Carmella appeared, she disappeared. I wonder if we’re going to see a Baymella reunion? It appears that WWE does not care about the Mandalorian because Sasha’s episode premiered today, and there was absolutely no mention of it. Um… why?
It’s finally over! (Rey Mysterio def. Seth Rollins) – Thank the almighty Bobby Lashley that this feud has finally come to a close. This has been going on since around Money in the Bank this year. Holy shit. Today being the anniversary of the late great Eddie Guerrero’s passing, I knew what was going to happen here. We pretty much knew from last week that Murphy was stringing Seth along and there was a grand scheme. Seth was really stupid to fall for it. Seth put Rey through a table and I knew he was going to kick out.
Then Murphy got into the ring and handed Seth a chair, and Seth had a big smile on his face that got immediately wiped off as Murphy turned around and hit him in the face with a knee. Rey paid tribute to his best friend Eddie and hit the frog splash for the win. Then Murphy was accepted by the Mysterio clan and they all hugged in the ring. After the match, an enraged Seth went to Adam Pearce and demanded that he give him the opportunity to destroy Murphy. That’s the next logical step in this whole saga. Though it may end up being quick because most likely, Seth will be gone for a bit after Survivor Series.
Sami Zayn def. Apollo Crews via clever count out – Before the match, Sami told us all that WWE management is clearly sabotaging him, giving him only one hour to prepare to face an opponent like Crews. Sami then took this information and made one of the smarter decisions he could have made – bait Crews outside and tie him up in the metal bars behind the ring apron, then dive into the ring at the referee’s count of 9. Ha! Clever dude. I almost thought they’d do the title switch and put us through another Lashley/Crews thing.
Otis def. Dolph Ziggler – This has a familiar feeling. Why do I feel like… ohhhhh right the Mandy/Sonya stuff. Gosh I really miss Sonya Deville. She’s been gone since SummerSlam and I hope that everything is working out well for her. This match came from Dolph and Roode poking at Otis in catering. Otis flipped the table and this dude hanging out in the back just quietly collected his food and moved away. Also, another smart moment here at the end of this match too, when Roode tried interfering and Otis didn’t fall for it like he did the first time. Let’s have more smart finishes!
After the match, Chad Gable (YAY!) approached Otis with a flyer for his very own “Alpha Academy” which I am excited to see more of. That actually makes me miss Jason Jordan.
Liv Morgan def. Natalya, Tamina, and Chelsea Green – Chelsea Green, a call up in May, debuted on this show. In November. And did nothing. And sadly, that’s because she got injured during this match. Extremely unfortunate for her. Liv Morgan was the right person to win of course to get on the SmackDown women’s Survivor Series team.
A mostly good show with an unfortunate moment in Chelsea’s injury. Really, really want Drew and Roman at Survivor Series. I will be so disappointed if that doesn’t happen.
