AEW smokes NXT in the ratings

AEW Dynamite

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (Nov. 18) NXT and AEW television shows.

Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite netted 850,000 viewers for a .37 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. NXT checked in with 638,000 viewers for a .14 rating point in the same 18-49 demo.

For AEW, this is an increase of about 86,000 viewers from the prior week, with a surge up from last week’s 0.30 demo rating. For NXT, viewership increased by 6,000 viewers from the prior week, but the demo rating was down from last week’s 0.16.

AEW jumped up from 17th to 7th place in the demo rating for the night, while NXT remained in 56th place.

This was a giant ass kicking in favor of AEW; their demo rating was over 2.5 times greater than NXT, and it matched Dynamite’s demo rating mark from Sept. 9 when they reached one million viewers. AEW’s overall audience rebounded in a big way from where it’s been in the last month, climbing well over 800K viewers. This is a great time for AEW’s numbers to pick up, as they are promising huge things for their Dec. 2 episode.

NXT’s numbers scream out stagnation. Six of their previous seven weeks have seen viewership range between 610K and 651K viewers, and a demo rating that ranges between .14 and .17. The lone exception in that time span was Halloween Havoc, which was a big ratings hit. That their demo rating decreased this week does not inspire confidence that these numbers will turn around in the short-term.
