Survivor Series predictions
WWE returns to pay-per-view (PPV) — if your cable provider is carrying the event, of course — tomorrow night (Sun., Nov. 22, 2020) from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, with its Survivor Series event starting at 6:00 pm ET with the Kickoff show leading right on into the main course at 7 pm ET on the WWE Network.
Luckily for you Cagesiders, our staff of learned wrestling blowhards is here to help figure out just how the event is going to play out with predictions for each match on the card.
Let’s get to it.
Survivor Series predictions
Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
Geno Mrosko: There is zero chance there is a legitimate finish in this match. Zero. Pick: No result
Sean Rueter: There are lots of ways I could see this playing out… successful or botched Jey interference, successful or botched Jimmy interference, successful or botched Sheamus interference. Those last two could be in service of either guy, too. In my head, I think whatever happens leads to a Reigns wins. But because there’s still a part of the 12 year old who rooted for Hulk Hogan & Mr. T at WrestleMania I alive in my heart, I’m fantasy booking a flash pin for the Scot followed by a brutal beatdown by the the Tribal Chief to set the WWE champ on a quest for revenge at WrestleMania XXXVII. Pick: Drew McIntyre
Kyle Decker: I still think this can somehow turn into a WrestleMania match, and if it does, I don’t think Drew has the title at the time. I think he’ll be challenging for Roman’s Universal belt. To make that a steeper mountain to climb, Drew would probably lose this round. Pick: Roman Reigns
Rev. Claire Elizabeth: The Big Dog of the World Wrestling Entertainment is the tribal chief and that means something. Drew is full of spit and vinegar and good old-fashioned Scottish violence, but he’s gonna need to actually use that big sword if he wants to win here, especially since Roman has the whole family on his side. Pick: Roman Reigns
Cain A. Knight: I don’t think the feud between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton will ever end, so perhaps an RKO out of nowhere screws McIntyre over. If not, maybe Miz turns it into a triple threat and fails his cash-in. Either way, Roman’s not taking the fall here. Pick: Roman Reigns
Stella Cheeks: Roman Reigns needs to win in order to keep his “all powerful” persona up. Drew can lose by either RKO or a good ole fashioned spear and bounce back with an inspiring speech™. No brainer. Pick: Roman Reigns
Sasha Banks vs. Asuka
Geno Mrosko: The Raw women’s division is a mess but SmackDown has something going at least. Pick: Sasha Banks
Sean Rueter: The only time The Boss has ever beaten The Empress in singles competition was when Asuka took a countout loss to save her friend. The Koska Reeves redemption tour is going to see her pin, or maybe even submit, the Raw Women’s champ this weekend. Pick: Sasha Banks
Kyle Decker: Asuka won their last head to head at SummerSlam, when the title was actually on the line. And while Asuka is generally more protected W/L wise than Sasha Banks, I think they split their series and the Boss takes the win here. Pick: Sasha Banks
Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Head-to-head, bell-to-bell, pound-for-pound, it’s hard to say which of these women is actually better and would win a fair fight. In a meta sense, one would think that Sasha’s recent excursions into show business means this is time to push her to the moon while you still have her, but this is WWE, so… Pick: Asuka
Cain A. Knight: Sasha Banks has more enemies than Asuka, so one of them will probably cost her the match. Pick: Asuka
Stella Cheeks: Sasha Banks needs another PPV win under her belt. Sure, the SmackDown women’s championship isn’t on the line, but her embarrassing loss streak is still looming. Asuka has been Raw women’s champion for a long time now. She can take a hit. Pick: Sasha Banks
Sami Zayn vs. Bobby Lashley
Geno Mrosko: The fact that Lashley will have help makes this one seem obvious. Pick: Bobby Lashley
Sean Rueter: We’ve seen what happens when everyone’s favorite Syrian-Canadian faces off with The All Mighty in the past. But Sami’s a shrewder operator this time around – just ask Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles. He’ll have a plan to deal with Lashley and the entire Hurt Business. Maybe a collective of artists? Pick: Sami Zayn
Kyle Decker: WWE books Lashley rather strong and he has the Hurt Business in his corner. Sami has no friends. Pick: Lashley
Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Oh joy, another round of this feud, that’s exactly what I wanted. Please just let’s avoid getting anyone’s “sister” involved and have this be one and done? Pick: Sami Zayn
Cain A. Knight: SLAPJACK couldn’t beat Lashley, so it’s hopeless for anyone else to even try. Pick: Bobby Lashley
Stella Cheeks: Intercontinental Championship > US Championship. Pick: Sami Zayn, hero of the people.
The Street Profits vs. The New Day
Geno Mrosko: I’m not really sure here. Could go either way. I’ll just flip this here coin. Pick: The New Day
Sean Rueter: Toss-up, but one thing is certain. There will be handshakes afterwards. Pick: Street Profits
Kyle Decker: Street Profits could use this victory more than the New Day. Whoever wins, I’m rather looking forward to this one. Pick: Street Profits
Rev. Claire Elizabeth: New Day are well-established, Street Profits could really use the rub, let’s do this! Pick: Street Profits
Cain A. Knight: I agree with the logic of why the Street Profits should win this match. But Vince McMahon doesn’t abide by that logic. Pick: New Day
Stella Cheeks: Peep me never voting against The New Day. #NewDayForever #KofiManiaLives Pick: The NEW DAAAYA
Team SmackDown (Bianca Belair, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Bayley, Natalya) vs. Team Raw (Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Peyton Royce, Lacey Evans, Lana)
Geno Mrosko: This is laughably one sided, at least in my estimation, and at this point I’m certain that will mean Lana winning a 1 v 5 situation. Pick: Team Raw
Sean Rueter: Bayley’s gonna get cocky dealing with Lana when she’s the last member of Team Red and get rolled up. Then a part of me is going to die inside. Pick: Team Raw
Kyle Decker: Lana sole survivor. Book it. Pick: Team Raw
Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Even with only three confirmed members as I write this, Team SmackDown looks cohesive and Team Raw is about to fall apart. Easy peasy. Pick: Team SmackDown
Cain A. Knight: SmackDown needs a couple wins on this card, so maybe Lana sabotages Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Pick: Team Smackdown
Stella Cheeks: Heavy Sigh. Lana is going to be the sole survivor. They are going all in on making Lana, respected wrestler and plucky underdog a thing. 🙁 Pick: Team Raw
Team SmackDown (Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, King Corbin, Seth Rollins, Otis) vs. Team Raw (AJ Styles, Keith Lee, Sheamus, Braun Strowman, Riddle)
Geno Mrosko: The entire story here is that Team Raw can’t get along. There’s no reason to think they’ll do so here. We’ll know who is feuding with who coming out of it, though. Pick: Team SmackDown
Sean Rueter: Skipper’s got this under control. Fireface FTW. Pick: Team Raw
Kyle Decker: Initially I was going to split my picks, with Raw winning for the women and SmackDown for the men. But they spent much longer focusing on the Raw team and it is just better overall compared to the SmackDown one. Pick: Team Raw
Rev. Claire Elizabeth: Both teams look pretty unstable here, but Team Raw getting more of a storytelling focus on their disunity while Team SmackDown has been subsumed into the general Roman Reigns Tribal Chief story, that tells me that it’s Raw’s match to lose. Pick: Team Raw
Cain A. Knight: How can this be “The Best of the Best” when Team Raw can’t even beat RETRIBUTION? I guess it doesn’t matter, because Team Raw has Braun Strowman. The blue brand better try their best to get him counted out or disqualified, because none of them will pin him. Pick: Team Raw
Stella Cheeks: Both teams lose because RETRIBUTION wreaks havoc. Pick: RETRIBUTION
That’s how we see the card playing out.
How about you?
