Kenny Omega is still set to defend his title at Triplemania XXVIII
Lucha libre fans, rejoice! Triplemania XXXVIII finally has an official date. AAA’s marquee event was originally scheduled for August 22, but the COVID pandemic cancelled those plans. It is now full steam ahead for December 12. AAA confirmed the news and also announced the full card during a press conference yesterday (Nov. 31, 2020).
Three of the fights were previously known with the hair vs hair main event, Kenny Omega defending the Megacampeonato, and an introduction of new Marvel luchadores. The remaining four bouts bring in the Lucha Bros to defend tag team gold, a Copa Triplemania women’s competition for the first time, and more.
The full card for Triplemania XXXVIII currently stands at:
- Hair vs Hair: Pagano vs Chessman
- AAA Megacampeonato: Kenny Omega (c) vs Laredo Kid
- Leyenda Americana & Aracno vs Terror Purpura & Venenoide
- Psycho Clown, Murder Clown, & Monster Clown vs LA Park, Hijo de LA Park, & Blue Demon Jr.
- Copa Triplemania: Faby Apache vs Lady Maravilla vs Chik Tormenta vs Lady Shani vs La Hiedra vs Hades
- AAA Tag Team Championship: Fenix & Pentagon (c) vs Texano Jr. & Rey Escorpion vs Myzteziz Jr. & Octagon Jr.
- Poder del Norte (Mocho Cota Jr., Carta Brava Jr., & Tito Santana) vs Niño Hamburguesa, Maximo, & Mr. Iguana
- Hall of Fame induction for La Parka
That is a decent card considering the circumstances. Both title matches should rock with excitement. The hair vs hair has potential to be ugly, but AAA seems to have a way of pulling out satisfying performances in Triplemania main events. The women get a chance to shine in the Copa Triplemania. The Marvel bout has the benefit of curiosity. Dorian Roldan confirmed that the men under the masks will be first class luchadores. Here is a glimpse at the masks for Leyenda Americana, Aracno, Terror Purpura, and Venenoide.

Notable by his absence is Rush. During the Q&A portion, Roldan explained that Rush has prior commitments with Ring of Honor. Connecting the dots would point to Rush to being in a quarantine phase getting ready to defend the ROH World Championship at the Final Battle PPV on December 18. Roldan stated that Rush is still in good standing with AAA to work together in the future.
Triplemania XXVIII will be available for live viewing through Facebook and YouTube. The December 12 show kicks off at 8 pm ET. As of now, there will be no fans in attendance.
