EC3’s experiment continues against Jay Briscoe at the ROH Final Battle PPV

EC3 has expressed his desire to find out if honor is real in Ring of Honor. Jay Briscoe is the lab rat for EC3’s experiment. Heated fisticuffs quickly escalated, so ROH announced EC3 vs Briscoe as the first bout for the Final Battle PPV on December 18.

This mini beef started a few weeks ago when EC3 stood in the way of the Briscoes exit from the ring after victory. Mark preferred to look past the incident and focus on the tag titles, but Jay did not appreciate the disrespect and wanted to teach EC3 a lesson.

That led to a match two weeks ago on ROH Wrestling. It was more like a short brawl with a dash of mind games. Jay refused to shake EC3’s hand, which is an ROH custom before and after matches. EC3 pressed the issue, and Jay lost his cool. Jay was quickly disqualified when failing to cease choking EC3 with his foot.

Jay had harsh words for his new nemesis.

EC3 responded by calling Jay a hypocrite who threw everything away due to simple mind games. EC3 went to Impact Wrestling to destroy his past in a story with Moose. He came to ROH to find his purpose with a fight against Briscoe. By conquering Briscoe, EC3 will find honor.

Now, the grudge match is official for Final Battle on December 18.

Final Battle will also have every title on the line. The current card is shaping up as:

  • ROH World Championship: Rush (c) vs TBA
  • ROH Pure Championship: Jonathan Gresham (c) vs TBA
  • ROH Television Championship: Dragon Lee (c) vs TBA
  • ROH World Tag Team Championship: Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham (c) vs TBA
  • ROH World Six-Man Championship: Bandido, Rey Horus, & Flamita (c) vs TBA
  • Grudge match: EC3 vs Jay Briscoe

Rush’s likely opponent seems to be Brody King, after King won a slobberknocker against Shane Taylor. That world title fight may turn into a multi-man bout, since Flip Gordon, Mark Haskins, and Matt Taven all have pending shots that were delayed due to the pandemic. Taven will likely keep his opportunity in his back pocket since all directions point to a fight with Vincent.

Jonathan Gresham is listed twice. ROH is planning to have him defend both belts. While Jay Briscoe is busy with EC3, Mark Briscoe declared that he will find a new partner to go after the tag titles. It hasn’t yet been made clear if Mark will get the Briscoes’ title rematch at the PPV.

Tony Deppen is also signed to compete.
