MLW Roundup: LA Park cooks, Salina de la Renta sues, more!

Let’s catch up on the latest news in MLW and preview tonight’s episode of MLW Fusion.

Opera Cup continues on MLW Fusion

The opening round of the Opera Cup tournament resumes. Last week, Tom Lawlor and Richard Holliday advanced. This week, Davey Boy Smith Jr. battles Low Ki and ACH takes on Laredo Kid. Both bouts should serve as nice contrast to each other with a rugged chess match and a flashy free-for-all.

Smith and Low Ki are matched up for the second year in a row. They met in last year’s opening round with Smith picking up the sneaky pinfall as Low Ki had him in serious trouble with a choke.

As for predictions, I can’t bet against the reigning champ. Smith will use his cerebral acumen to prove once again that he is the better wrestler. I’m choosing Laredo Kid to take the other contest. Laredo is peaking in his career, while ACH is winding down.

The third bout on the agenda is the debut of Contra’s black hand. That refers to the very large masked man that ambushed Alexander Hammerstone. He will compete against the diminutive but feisty Ariel Dominguez. The identity of Contra’s mammoth man is a mystery at this moment in time, however, the eyes in this image steer me toward Logan Creed. He had a similar appearance in a previous Pulp Fusion.

The official preview also promotes promos from Salina de la Renta and Tom Lawlor, as well as threats from Josef Samael.

Hmm, this episode may be rated X with an orgy of sacrifice. It sort of adds new context to this Hammerstone tweet.

MLW Fusion streams on Fubo Sports Network Wednesday nights at 7 pm ET and 10 pm ET, posts on YouTube Wednesdays at 7 pm ET, and airs on beIN SPORTS Saturday nights at 10 pm ET. You can also check out MLW streaming on demand with DAZN. In addition, MLW is broadcast in over 20 countries.

Quick hits

Who’s up for another edition of LA Park’s cooking show? MLW released a special Thanksgiving episode of, “Los Parks en la cocina, pendejos!” The recipe included sticking a chicken over a beer can to cook on the grill.

Court Bauer shared an amusing story about why the cooking segment wasn’t included in the Fusion broadcast.

Richard Holliday provided a Thanksgiving message from the Caribbean. He will be honored with a Richard Holliday Day parade.

We need a post-parade update. I’ll bet the booze was flowing in a celebration worthy of a Caribbean hero.

Salina de la Renta seems to be threatening a lawsuit against MLW for recent fines and sanctions in regard to allegations of being the Contra Unit’s insider. She stormed out of a recent meeting after attempting to persuade reinstatement of her promoter and managing licenses. The drama spilled out in the public over Twitter.

Jordan Oliver is still eager to get his hands on Simon Gotch. Oliver talked mad trash then was choked out in an ambush during Pulp Fusion.

Colonel Parker is in negotiations for new talent to join the Dirty Blondes in the Stud Stable. Aria Blake will be handling managerial duties. MLW.com posted an enjoyable story (here) about the interview with Parker while visiting his estate in Tennessee.

Bauer teased more potential international wheelings and dealings. MLW is optimistic for “very exciting stuff” with a major promotion in 2021.

We’ll close with a flashback fight from 2004 when the Stampede Bulldogs (Tyson Kidd & Davey Boy Smith Jr.) wrestled Puma & Bobby Quance.
