AEW Rankings: Rookie tag team crashes top 5

AEW released their latest rankings (Dec. 16, 2020). Let’s check out the movers and shakers.

Men:

No shifts this week. Kenny Omega will wrestle Joey Janela in no DQ tonight on Dynamite. Cody Rhodes has a duel with Angelico. I wonder if Cody will have three matches on consecutive weeks to close out the year. Assuming they are all wins, that would give him the record for most victories of all the rankings. Seems like a nice feather in the cap of a man with no titles to grasp in his near future.

Women:

Abadon inched closer to a title shot by moving up two spots to #3. Her victory over Tesha Price on Dynamite earned points, but I’d put more value on her sitting up after a kendo stick to the head.

Tag Team:

The most interesting change this week came via the tag team division. The Natural Nightmares of Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall dropped out from #4. The Dark Order duo of Evil Uno and Stu Grayson bumped up one spot, and a pair of rookies are making their rankings debut. Anthony Bowens and Max Caster of The Acclaimed hit #5 just in time to hype their big test tonight against SCU’s Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. It will be interesting to see if that is foreshadowing for victory and a bump into a title shot against the Young Bucks before the end of the year.

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
