Impact’s ratings & viewership down big for week two of AEW crossover
They’re better than the pre-crossover numbers, though.
For the second week in a row, AEW had a presence on the Dec. 15 edition of Impact.
However, without the newness of the two companies working together while pretending to be at odds in story, much of the audience that tuned in on Dec. 8 didn’t stick around for last night’s show.
Viewership dropped both on Twitch and on cable. On the streaming site, the audience peaked at 14,663. That’s down 72% from last week. For AXS, their corporate partner & television home, the number dropped by a more reasonable 19%, to 177K. Rating in the 18 – 49 year old demographic fell to to a .4, half what it was a week ago.
The good news is that both viewership numbers are better than they were on Dec. 1 when audiences didn’t know anything about the AEW crossover (up 11K on cable and 11,563 on Twitch). That’s not true of AXS’ demo rating though, which was a .5 two weeks ago.
AEW & Impact have now established that Kenny Omega will be a presence on Tuesday night’s until at least Impact’s Jan. 16 PPV. Perhaps more importantly, they’ve shown he’s not just going to repeat everything he says on Impact when he and Don Callis come to Dynamite the next night.
But we probably won’t know if that makes a difference until the new year. Impact is running two weeks of “Best of” shows for the remainder of 2019.
