Wyatt vs. Orton gets a hilarious stipulation that we’ve never seen before
WWE’s TLC 2020 is coming up this weekend on Sun., Dec. 20. One of Raw’s top matches will see “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt take on Randy Orton in a feud that calls back to their issues from 2017, when Randy Orton burned down Wyatt’s swamp compound. More recently, Orton tried to burn Wyatt to death after locking him in a box, but The Fiend miraculously escaped Orton’s trap and choked Randall out.
The TLC pay-per-view theme is all about Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. But the Wyatt/Orton feud transcends hardcore weaponry. So what do you get when you combine Wyatt’s penchant for Fun House madness with Orton’s sociopathic love of burning shit down? You get a FIREFLY INFERNO MATCH.
WWE’s announcement of the brand new stipulation doesn’t provide any details on how to win. Firefly Fun House matches are cinematic journeys into the demented mind of Wyatt. Inferno matches are won by setting your opponent on fire. So I’m going to do my worst Sherlock Holmes impression and conclude that this new type of match probably combines both characteristics together.
We recently saw Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton have a regular wrestling match on Raw, and seeing it again with Wyatt wearing a mask doesn’t seem like an intriguing new wrinkle. This idea, however, sounds like the kind of spectacle that I’m totally here for when it comes to Wyatt vs. Orton. So you can sign me up; I am now excited to see what kind of wackiness ensues between The Fiend and Randy at TLC.
In other TLC news, WWE has made a SmackDown women’s championship rematch official between Sasha Banks and Carmella. We’ll have to wait to see what stipulation unrelated to tables, ladders, and chairs that one might receive.
Here’s the updated card for TLC 2020:
- Drew McIntyre (c) vs. AJ Styles (WWE championship TLC match)
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens (Universal championship TLC match)
- Sasha Banks (c) vs. Carmella (SmackDown women’s championship)
- Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Asuka & ??? (Women’s tag team championship)
- “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton (Firefly Inferno match)
- The New Day (c) vs. The Hurt Business (Raw tag team championship)
