Three of WWE’s Top 5 Greatest TLC matches are undeniable

With the 2020 edition of their annual TLC PPV coming up on Sun., Dec. 20, WWE offered up this list of their Top Five Greatest TLC matches in history.

Heading into tomorrow’s show, there have been 26 Tables, Ladders and Chairs affairs, so we’re really talking about a little less than 20% TLCs of all-time. Which is part of why I say it’s a no-brainer that the two which introduced the concept and still define it to this day – the Edge & Christian, Hardy Boyz & Dudleys matches in 2000 & 2001 – make the cut. Likewise, the first ever women’s TLC – Asuka, Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair’s 2018 clash – deserves to be here for historical reasons… and because it was a banger.

You can quibble about the order, and you can certainly debate their other two picks. I don’t love a TLC that ends with a pin, which is a big reason The Shield trios match here wouldn’t be in my Top Five. I have less of an issue with their Cena/Edge pick, but I’d still go a different direction.

Give me CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy at SummerSlam ‘09 instead. Then, laugh all you want, and I know this also ended in a pin, but… I freaking loved Hornswoggle & El Torito’s WeeLC match at 2014’s Extreme Rules.

Here’s WWE’s Top Five. Give us yours in the comments below.

5. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka vs. Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s championship at TLC 2018

4. Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boys for the WWF Tag titles at SummerSlam 2000

3. The Shield vs. Team Hell No & Ryback at TLC 2012

2. John Cena vs. Edge for the WWE championship at Unforgiven 2006

1. Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boys for the WWF Tag titles at WrestleMania X-7
