Styles wants Edge or Triple H at WrestleMania 37

AJ Styles just lost a WWE title match against Drew McIntyre at TLC this past weekend, and it seems clear he won’t be in the title picture for much longer. That means he’s going to have to find someone to feud with as we’re heading into Royal Rumble and gearing up for WrestleMania season.

As he told talkSPORT, he’s got two names in mind for potential opponents at WrestleMania 37 next April:

“Well, if it can’t be Drew McIntyre, give me Edge. If it can’t be Edge, give me Triple H. There’s a number of guys that are willing to step up and it can be any one of those. I’m telling you, I want Edge. I got some payback to get from the Royal Rumble. I got some payback to get from that spear. So it’s time to get some payback! I feel like I’ve put [Triple H] in a situation like I did The Undertaker. ‘Hey, hey, hey’ [laughs]. Will he accept? I don’t know. But these are guys that I’ve always thought, wow, they’re great and even speaking to them, you realize their mindset and the way they approach things are totally different to a lot of other performers. They just, there’s something about them. There’s a reason why he’s still doing what he’s doing. NXT is a brand because of Triple H. There’s no question of that. So I would love to see how that would work in a match with him. Will it ever happen? I don’t know, but I’m trying guys!”

Styles talked his way into working what ended up being Undertaker’s final match in WWE. Perhaps he can do the same with Triple H? Edge seems like a long shot, considering reports that his feud with Randy Orton is likely to resume upon his return, but you never know.

Either option would likely result in a quality match at the biggest show of the year.
