Mox’s return, three title matches set for New Year’s Smash shows

AEW’s Twitter

We already knew AEW’s last Dynamite of 2020 would feature Kenny Omega’s first World title defense, against Rey Fenix.

After the Dec. 23 episode we have a complete picture of what to expect on night one of New Year’s Smash. That picture includes the man Omega beat for the belt, as Jon Moxley will be back for the first time since Don Callis helped Kenny win the championship back at Winter is Coming on Dec. 2.

Dec. 30 will also feature a Women’s championship match and hoss fight that’s been simmering within Inner Circle since before Full Gear.

– Kenny Omega (c) vs. Rey Fenix for the World championship

– Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Abadon for the Women’s title

– Jake Hager vs. Wardlow

– Jon Moxley returns

The following week, which will go against NXT’s TakeOver-like New Year’s Evil show, also added a title match tonight. In addition to Darby Allin’s first TNT championship defense, a battle of ranked tag teams and Cody Rhodes vs. an old friend were also announced for Jan. 6’s second night of New Year’s Smash.

– Darby Allin (c) vs. Brian Cage for the TNT championship

– FTR vs. Jurassic Express

– Cody vs. Matt Sydal

Rhodes’ Go Big Show co-star Snoop Dogg is on commentary in two weeks. And with Darby & Cody in the line-up, you know Sting will be watching that show.

And cards like these – we know you will be too!
