WWE names the GREATEST WRESTLING MATCH EVER the third best match of 2020

WWE.com

We’re finally to the end of a spectacularly bad year and that means looking back on everything that happened over the past 12 months. In pro wrestling, that means a lot of lists of the best matches of 2020.

WWE released one of its own, a top 25, and one thing sticks out to me above anything else. Here’s the top 10 (click here for the full list):

10. Finn Balor vs. Kyle O’Reilly (NXT TakeOver 31)
9. Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair (WrestleMania 36)
8. WALTER vs. Ilja Dragunov (NXT UK, Oct. 29)
7. Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton (Clash of Champions)
6. Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles (SmackDown, June 12)
5. Sami Zayn vs. Jeff Hardy vs. AJ Styles (Clash of Champions)
4. Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns (Survivor Series)
3. Edge vs. Randy Orton (Backlash)
2. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley (Hell in a Cell)
1. Undertaker vs. AJ Styles (WrestleMania 36)

We spent a lot of time and spilled a ton of ink clowning WWE for promoting anything as THE GREATEST WRESTLING MATCH EVER before it even happened. We would be remiss if we didn’t at least laugh at that once more, especially because people who work for WWE couldn’t bring themselves to rank THE GREATEST WRESTLING MATCH EVER any higher than the third best match of 2020.

Ha.
