WWE wants to remind you 205 Live still exists
205 Live still airs on WWE Network every Friday after SmackDown. It’s a perfectly fine show with some really promising talent on it, including established names like Santos Escobar, and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott.
The purple brand’s characters and storylines don’t crossover to Raw or SmackDown any more at all, though. They only occasionally matter on NXT – the show where the Cruiserweight championship that was once the centerpiece of 205 Live now resides.
So with 10+ hours of nationally televised wrestling a week and a seemingly endless amount of streaming content, the cruisers show has fallen off of a lot of fans’ radar.
Triple H & team have a way to remind you. How well it will work will depend on how interested you are in the first round of the men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic…
As @RealKingRegal just announced, in addition to @WWENXT, #205Live will host featured #DustyCup tag team matches! pic.twitter.com/kDhuQFsLlp

In addition to Escobar’s Legado del Fantasma squad of Raul Mendoza & Jaoquin Wilde, Swerve & partner Jake Atlas, and my beloved Ever-Rise, two other of the 12 announced teams are also 205 regulars… the Bollywood Boyz and Evolve alums Curt Stallion & August Grey.
Will one of them make a run and get more viewers watching on Friday nights at 10 p.m. Eastern (or whenever they want on demand)?
Doesn’t hurt to try.
