WWE says Kofi Kingston has a broken jaw
On the Jan. 11 Raw, Xavier Woods had to face T-BAR & RETRIBUTION on his own. Lead announcer Tom Phillips informed us that Woods’ New Day partner Kofi Kingston was out with a broken jaw.
Phillips reported the injury occurred while New Day was battling The Hurt Business. Kofi & Xavier lost the Raw Tag titles to Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin three weeks ago at TLC, and at the time Kingston did say he lost two teeth in the match. But he returned to action for an eight-man against the group on Dec. 28, then New Day wrestled Miz & Morrison on last week’s Raw.
Kingston’s also been active on social media and on The New Day’s Feel The Power podcast, showing little to no signs of a broken jaw. The former WWE champ did however mention the injury during an Instagram interview with international rugby superstar Tendai Mtawarira posted yesterday, and the right side of his face looks a bit swollen:
“I gotta apologize cause I feel like I’m talking out of the side of my mouth. And I’m dealing with like a jaw injury right now and my mouth is only closing on one side. So if I sound kinda funny, that’s why. Ordinarily, I do a lot of imitations, impersonations, and impressions, but I’m not doing that right now. I’m talking funny trying to figure this situation out.”
Who knows what happened and when, but here’s wishing Kofi a speedy recovery.
