Britt Baker will take on Thunder Rosa at Beach Break; Deeb retains NWA Women’s Title
It was just announced that Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa will fight it out at the upcoming AEW Beach Break event. The event will be taking place on Feb. 3.
These two women were supposed to have a highly anticipated match on tonight’s Night Two of the New Year’s Smash event. This match had to be pulled as a precaution from reports on Rosa being exposed to somebody who tested positive for COVID-19. These two women have had a heated rivalry as of late that has all culminated in this one-on-one match.
What Baker did have instead was her first episode of The Waiting Room on Dynamite. Until tonight, her segment was only aired on AEW Dark. Her guest was Cody Rhodes but she had another guest which ended up being Jade Cargill.
Cargill cuts a promo saying that she is tired of waiting for an opponent. She says that no one gives a damn that Brandi Rhodes is pregnant and that Cody did a huge favor to her by having her out of action. She adds that if Brandi ever returns that she will beat her ass.
Red Velvet then came into the Waiting Room after Cargill shoves Cody. The two exchange slaps and then all hell breaks loose as they go at it. They are pulled apart by the roster.
The match that did take place on this week’s show was Serena Deeb defending her NWA World Women’s Title against Tay Conti. This was a huge opportunity for Conti as this was her first televised title match.
In the last moments of the match, Conti connected with a pump kick, knocking Deeb in the corner. The challenger went for the Tay-KO but she dropped to a knee and couldn’t execute it. Deeb countered with a backslide and follows it up with the Detox for the pin to retain her title.
