Daniel Bryan did it again

In this weekly series, we identify three Superstars (or groups of Superstars) who are on their way up, and three that are moving in the opposite direction. After a busy week that included Randy Orton getting shot with a fireball, Ric Flair betraying his daughter for Lacey Evans, and Adam Pearce pulling a fast one on Roman Reigns, a lot of fortunes were changed.

With that in mind, let’s see whose stock has decreased the most this week:

Stock Down #3: New Day

With Kofi Kingston sidelined by a jaw injury, Xavier Woods actually lost a singles match against RETRIBUTION on this week’s (Jan. 11) episode of Raw. That’s supposed to be Ricochet’s job!

Stock Down #2: Elias

Elias hasn’t been paired up with Jaxson Ryker for very long but it looks like the story is already heading into “Ryker is better than Elias” territory. Ryker easily defeated the struggling Jeff Hardy on Raw, leading right into another match where Hardy beat Elias. It’s not clear that the partnership with Ryker is doing much good for Elias.

Stock Down #1: Matt Riddle

Riddle was completely obliterated by Bobby Lashley on Raw in a two minute match for the United States championship. Afterwards, Riddle tried to take out his frustrations on MVP, but that skirmish ended with Bobby Lashley beating the hell out of Riddle one more time.

If WWE is trying to establish that Riddle is a pretender in the mid-card title scene, they did a pretty good job with this booking. The Original Bro got his ass kicked so badly that some folks are now doubting that he actually signed a new contract with the promotion.

Now let’s see whose stock has increased the most this week:

Stock Up #3: King Corbin

Corbin made quick work of the Mysterios this week (Jan. 15) on SmackDown, and he didn’t even need any assistance from his lackeys to get the job done. Baron embarrassed Dominik en route to a relatively easy and quick win over Rey. In the aftermath, Rey has already admitted that he’ll need some help to deal with the king.

Stock Up #2: Cesaro

Daniel Bryan is trying his best to make everyone on the SmackDown roster look like a star. This is evident from his recent matches against Jey Uso and Shinsuke Nakamura, as well comedy segments backstage with Otis and Chad Gable.

He did it again on last night’s SmackDown. This time it was Cesaro who benefited from Bryan’s selflessness. The two men had a great wrestling match, of course, and the win for Cesaro helps restore some of his shine. This looks like a situation where Nakamura is going babyface but Cesaro is remaining heel, which means their days as a team might be numbered.

Stock Up #1: Apollo Crews

The only thing Apollo Crews had to do this week to significantly raise his stock was sit in a chair next to Roman Reigns. Crews’ brief interaction with the Head of the Table is a good sign that Apollo isn’t just some filler opponent to be used as a stepping stone for Big E and then cast aside. Apollo’s new attitude change is exactly what he needed.
