AEW reportedly moving Revolution PPV back a week

When AEW announced their first 2021 PPV, Revolution, they promoted it for the last Saturday in February.

That’s the same spot on the calendar the show took in 2020. The company’s strategy to this point in its brief existence has been to position its four major events at the same times – Double or Nothing on Memorial Day weekend, All Out on Labor Day weekend, Full Gear in early November, and Revolution in late February.

According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they’ll be shifting that slightly this year. Dave Meltzer reports AEW is weighing either Sat., March 6 or Sun., March 7 for this year’s Revolution. If they chose the latter date, it will be the first time they hold a PPV on a Sunday.

Why the change? Meltzer speculated it could be to avoid competing with YouTuber Jake Paul’s latest boxing exhibition (past fight cards featuring the Paul brothers have sold in excess of a million buys), but it was announced this week that Jake’s next event will be on April 17.

Whichever date AEW settles on, for whatever reason, the Observer says the show will take place in AEW’s pandemic home base at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

We’ll keep you posted on when you’ll be able to see Sting & Darby Allin’s Street Fight with Team Taz.
