The Way takes a win to move forward in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell of The Way stable advanced in their first-round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. In this first-ever tournament, The Way faced newcomers to NXT – GiGi Dolin (Priscilla Kelly) and Cora Jade (Elayna Black). This was also the first women’s match to ever take place on 205 Live.

Dolin & Jade set out to hopefully get a win in their debuts and pull up an upset on a well-established team. Although they looked great throughout the match, the newcomers weren’t able to come through with a big win.

In the final moments of the match, there were many near fall attempts between Jade and LeRae. Hartwell tagged in who then plants Jade down on the mat to get the pin and victory for her team. The two winners then gleefully posed next to the Dusty cup trophy at ringside.

The Way will face whoever will be the winning team between Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon vs. Marina Shafir & Zoey Stark. This match will be forthcoming.

On the opposite side of the brackets, Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro picked up their first-round win this past Wednesday on NXT. Next week on NXT Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai will take on Aliyah and Jessi Kamea to see who faces Carter and Catanzaro in the semi-finals.

Prior to their debut match, Dolin and Jade introduced themselves in a promo that you can see below.
