Triple H’s WrestleMania updates on Lesnar & Cena fit each guy to a T
With Royal Rumble this weekend, this morning’s Peacock announcement, and tomorrow’s Superstar Spectacle show for the Indian market, WWE executives are doing interviews all over the place this week.
In two separate conversations with the press, Paul “Triple H” Levesque spoke on the status of two of the company’s biggest stars for April’s WrestleMania 37. It’s basically impossible to tell if the updates are a work or a shoot. They’re probably both, because they perfectly suit everything we know about Brock Lesnar and John Cena.
Neither man has wrestled since last year’s WrestleMania, but Cena’s done some promotional work and is reportedly going to work the show in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on April 10 – 11. Asked by Sports Illustrated if the 16 time WWE World champ, Haitch said:
“I won’t put words in John’s mouth, but I can speak to his passion, and it’s WWE and WrestleMania. Once you do this at a high level, and John does it at the highest, it’s very hard to put down. If there is a way for him to be there, he will be there.”
Which lines up with everything we know about company man Cena. But what about a mercenary like Brock? Trips told Hindustan Times:
“One of the things I have learnt about him is Brock Lesnar does what Brock Lesnar wants to do. Nobody can talk him into doing things differently. So time will tell. If wants to show up at WrestleMania he will, if he doesn’t he won’t. The only way to get that answer is to call Brock Lesnar.”
Yep, that tracks.
There hasn’t been much chatter about a Lesnar return, but one of the things we’d heard Brock was waiting for was fans in the stands, and Levesque confirmed to SI that will happen at ‘Mania, so…
Who’s gonna call him?
