Riddle earns U.S. title shot against Bobby Lashley

USA Network

There was talk weeks ago that Matt Riddle could be next in line for a United States title program with reigning champion Bobby Lashley, and they’ve been circling each other ever since. Finally, this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw saw a Gauntlet match booked to determine if Riddle would actually get a shot at the title.

If he could run through the entirety of The Hurt Business, he would get just that.

First, he beat Shelton Benjamin thanks to Cedric Alexander providing an unintentional distraction that only furthered the divide between the Raw tag team champions.

MVP was in second, and he was rolled up and submitted while trying to keep the peace between the aforementioned champs.

Finally, Riddle managed to overcome Alexander, pinning him after a damn good back-and-forth battle.

It’s unclear when exactly this title match will take place, as commentary stopped short of saying it would be at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in just six days. Instead, it was stated the match will take place at some point in the future. Lashley has already been announced as taking place in the Royal Rumble match.

Stay tuned for more info on that.
