Vince McMahon’s older brother Rod has died
Roderick “Rod” McMahon, older brother of WWE Chairman & CEO Vince K. McMahon, has died. He was 77.
Wrestling Observer first reported the news last night. Rod McMahon died on Weds., Jan. 20. The cause of death is unknown.
Unlike his only sibling, their father Vince Sr., or their grandfather Jess, Rod McMahon was never a part of the wrestling business. Instead, the Air Force veteran founded a metals business in Houston. Born in Long Island, he and his wife raised their family in Texas. He’s survived by his wife and two sons & their families, his mother, and his brother & his family.
Rod would attend WWE events on occasion, and could be spotted in the audience at a few Hall of Fame ceremonies. He was rumored to be a part of the “Who killed Vince McMahon?” angle that was scrapped in the wake of the Benoit tragedy.
Per an obituary posted at Legacy.com from a Houston area newspaper, funeral arrangements were postponed. Vince McMahon is said to have understandably missed last Friday’s SmackDown and yesterday’s Raw in Tampa.
On behalf of the entire Cageside Seats community, we extend our condolences to the McMahons.
