Edge uses something he did On This Day one year ago as motivation
Absent since suffering a triceps tear during The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever at Backlash in June of last year, Edge announced on Raw last night (Jan. 25) that he’ll return at Royal Rumble on Sunday.
You may remember that Edge returned at the 2020 Rumble for his first match since 2011. This being the one year anniversary of that event, the Rated-R Superstar reflected on the moment – and integrated it into his story heading into this year’s Rumble match.

As you can tell from this, Edge’s latest excellent promo on Raw, and most of his story from Royal Rumble to Backlash last year (including the excellent The Second Mountain documentary on the Network), the man’s real life journey is inextricably linked to his kayfabe one at this point in his career.
So now he’s questing to finish what he started last year, which was a mission to go out on his own terms after he was denied that after WrestleMania 27.
