First-ever match announced for AEW Women’s Championship Tournament

Serena Deeb and Riho

AEW announced the first-round match for the inaugural Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament. In another first, the match will see NWA Women’s World Champion, take on former AEW Women’s World Champion, Riho.

Last week reports stated that AEW was working on bringing Riho in for the tournament. This announcement confirms those reports and Riho took to Twitter to declare that she is returning to the promotion.

Deeb and Riho have never met inside a ring, which adds great interest and excitement for their upcoming match. Deeb is a highly-skilled technician while Riho is a super-fast high-flyer and both wrestlers will undoubtedly bring their A-game when they face each other in the tournament’s opener.

There is no date confirmed for the match as of yet, but one thing is for sure, AEW is beginning the tournament with a bang.

AEW announced the first-ever Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament on January 20th. The sixteen woman competition will see the winner become the number one contender for the AEW women’s title.
