Report: Japanese legend signs with WWE

There were reports back in October 2020 that Japanese wrestling legend Meiko Satomura would be coming to NXT UK as a coach and in-ring talent.

Following up on that, Nikkan Sports is reporting that the former PROGRESS Wrestling women’s champion has indeed signed with WWE. This news has been confirmed by Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer.

WWE fans might remember Satomura for her 2018 Mae Young Classic matches against wrestlers like Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm.

Before WWE fans get too hopeful that this means the 41 year old Japanese star could be the mystery woman in Xia Li’s NXT storyline, the report maintains that Satomura will be a part of NXT UK. The report also indicates that she will hold onto her role as president of Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling.

Are you hopeful for what Meiko Satomura’s signing means for NXT UK, and if her presence could eventually have an impact on WWE’s main roster?
