Moxley & Mysterio reveal very unique pro wrestling Mount Rushmores

WWE.com

Discussing the pro wrestling Mount Rushmore is always a fun time, especially when current superstars reveal their personal selections. Jon Moxley and Rey Mysterio are very unique wrestlers, and their choices reflect that.

Jon Moxley provided his picks for men to be chiseled in stone during an AMA with Bleacher Report.

  • Bret Hart
  • Dusty Rhodes
  • Minoru Suzuki
  • Cactus Jack

Jon Moxley: The way I do it is I like to say who my personal Mount Rushmore is. These are my guys that helped me fall in love with the business. Mine would be Bret Hart, Dusty Rhodes, Minoru Suzuki and Cactus Jack.

I can definitely see the inspiration those four have had on Moxley’s style. He seems like the kind of person that would have taken a vacation to Stu Hart’s dungeon just to experience getting stretched by the legend. The vibe of Mox’s AEW promos do remind me a little of serious Dusty with the shifts in tone and a blend of humor and intensity. Suzuki and Cactus Jack add the element of tough guy insanity.

In a related question, Moxley was asked about his dream 5 versus 5 matchup.

Moxley: Just to get one team out of the way: Five members of The Hart Foundation that had that one match at Canadian Stampede. We’ll just make them the first team. Other team is Terry Funk, Jeff Hardy so he can jump off the roof, Kazushi Sakuraba just to get weird, and prime Nick Bockwinkel to class that team up.

Imagine the promo with that crew.

Rey Mysterio revealed his picks during a conversation with Alfred Konuwa on Pro Wrestling Bits. His choices were more of a personal top 5 with who inspired him throughout his career.

  • Rey Mysterio Sr.
  • Negro Casas
  • Tiger Mask
  • Dynamite Kid
  • Eddie Guerrero

Rey Mysterio: My uncle was a big inspiration to me. What he was doing during his time I thought was incredible. Negro Casas has been a huge inspiration to me, Tiger Mask has been another huge inspiration and Tiger Mask cannot go alone, he has to go alongside Dynamite Kid. I think those right there just inspired me throughout the whole way. Of course, you could never do your Top 5 and not put Eddie Guerrero in there.

That’s two very interesting mixes of talent from Moxley and Mysterio. At the very least, it provides names to search out classic matches. What’s your take on those Mount Rushmores? Do you see the inspiration of those legends peaking through in the work of Moxley and Mysterio? If you became a wrestler, which four would be your primary inspirations?
