Clash of Champions match card & rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Clash of Champions show set to take place on Sun., Sept. 27, 2020, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The event has been dubbed “Gold Rush,” with the idea being only title matches will be featured on the show.

Here’s how the card looks just a few weeks from showtime:

  • Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)

Orton won a singles match against Kevin Owens to earn his way into a triple threat match against Seth Rollins and Keith Lee, which he also won, for the right to wrestle McIntyre in a rematch from SummerSlam. They’re playing up the possibility this may not actually happen, considering McIntyre was taken out by Orton with three punts that resulted in what WWE called a “hairline jaw fracture.” Stay tuned, I suppose.

  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso (Universal championship)

A Fatal 4-Way match was booked for Friday Night SmackDown this week that originally featured Big E, Sheamus, Matt Riddle, and Baron Corbin. However, Sheamus took Big E out and Reigns & Paul Heyman campaigned to get Uso inserted in his place. That worked, and Uso went on to win the match to set this up.

That’s all that’s official for the card so far.

Elsewhere, Sami Zayn, Jeff Hardy, and AJ Styles are fighting over the Intercontinental championship, Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott are top contenders to the women’s tag team titles held by Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax.
