NXT and AEW strike out against the World Series

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (Oct. 21) NXT and AEW television shows.

Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite netted 753,000 viewers for a .30 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. NXT checked in with 644,000 viewers for a .16 rating point in the same 18-49 demo.

For AEW, this is a decrease of about 73,000 viewers from the prior week, with no change from last week’s 0.30 demo rating. For NXT, viewership slightly dipped by about 7,000 viewers from the prior week, and the demo rating was down from last week’s 0.17.

AEW increased from 15th to 13th place in the demo rating for the night, while NXT dropped down from 51st to 56th place.

The numbers for AEW and NXT have remained in these respective ranges for about three weeks now, ever since the vice presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence. Cable news shows and MLB’s World Series proved to be too much competition for pro wrestling to handle last night, as there was no growth in viewership from the prior week.

AEW moved up a couple spots in the ordinal rankings of the demo rating, whereas NXT fell further away from the top 50 shows. The big disparity there serves as a weekly reminder that NXT’s numbers lag well behind AEW.
