Impact recap & reactions: Mitchell snitches out Bravo shooting suspect

Impact Wrestling (Nov. 10, 2020) featured TJP’s final shot at Rohit Raju’s X-Division title, the Rascalz being evicted, and James Storm joining forces with Chris Sabin heading into the Turning Point special event on November 14, available on the Impact Plus app.

Before we get to the recap, we have to address the major story heard round the world. Detective Tommy Dreamer is on the case of who shot John E. Bravo. Last week, there were ten suspects. A lie detector test cleared Larry D and Hernandez. The results for Cody Deaner and Fallah Bahh had a cliffhanger vibe and were not exposed publicly. Bahh also had his wad of cash stolen by Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz.

A potential breakthrough came from Father James Mitchell. He claims he didn’t do it, even though deception runs through his veins. Wasting Bravo’s pure virgin is not his style. Mitchell did have a suspect in mind.

Havok entered for a turn on the hot seat. She flipped the script to accuse Rosemary. Dreamer will investigate the demon at a later date. The scene cut out for high drama when Dreamer asked Havok the big question. Did she shoot Bravo?

As far as I’m concerned, only two suspects were cleared. That means eight names remain:

• Fallah Bahh
• Referee Brandon Tolle
• Father James Mitchell
• Rosemary
• Taya

In other notable news, it appears that the Rascalz time with Impact is coming to an end. They received an eviction notice from The Treehouse.

Rich Swann had an idea to go out with a bang. He proposed himself and Trey Miguel versus Dez and Wentz. Friendly challenge accepted for next week.

This seems to be a legit exit for the Rascalz from the Impact Zone with next week’s match showing a departure on good terms. But, you never know for sure in the wacky world of professional wrestling.

Let’s roll through the rest of the Impact Wrestling episode.

Josh Mathews handled commentary duties solo at the start, then Madison Rayne joined him later.

Havok & Nevaeh defeated Tenille Dashwood & Madison Rayne. Rayne was making her return to the ring as a warm-up to compete in the upcoming Knockouts tag title tournament. The egos of Rayne and Dashwood never got on the same page. In the end, Rayne had Havok hooked, but Havok reversed with power for a tombstone piledriver to win. Dashwood was not satisfied and decided to dump Rayne as a partner.

The Good Brothers are ready for their tag title shot against The North at Turning Point. Ethan Page entered the scene. Karl Anderson insulted The Karate Man. Page slapped Anderson, who returned fire.

X-Division Championship: Rohit Raju retained against TJP. (Full details here.) Rohit used a mule kick to the pebbles while the referee was distracted. Rohit then pinned TJP on a running knee strike. Per the stipulation, TJP can’t challenge again as long as Rohit is still champ.

Chris Sabin defeated Acey Romero. Larry D was ringside to assist his XXXL mate. Sabin used his speed for a slingshot plancha onto both heavies. He hit quick-footed strikes and a boot to the head to knock Romero down for the three count. Afterward, XXXL beat up Sabin to send a message.

Sami Callihan tried to butter up Chris Bey, but Bey would not be finessed. If Callihan wants a collaboration, say so. Sami went into the details, and Bey was all ears.

Eddie Edwards defeated Chris Bey. Edwards anticipated a springboard cutter coming, so he backed away to stack up Bey on the winning pin. Afterward, lights out. Lights on for Callihan in the ring. Bey had a chair and Sami had a bat. Both had bad intentions on taking out Edwards. Swann ran in for the save. Ken Shamrock arrived to tilt the favor back towards the bad guys. The Rascalz zipped down to chase away the evildoers.

Tenille Dashwood changed her mind and requested Jordynne Grace to be her partner. Grace is giving Dashwood a chance to earn her trust with a tag match at Turning Point.

Deonna Purrazzo is preparing for uncharted territory in the no DQ Knockouts title match against Su Yung at Turning Point. Purrazzo was confident in taking advantage of the rules with Kimber Lee by her side. All of a sudden, Lee disappeared and was seen beaten up behind a window. Su sent the message that Purrazzo is alone.

Reno Scum defeated Fallah Bahh & Crazzy Steve. A flying curb stomp sealed the deal.

Chris Sabin approached James Storm to be his partner against XXXL at Turning Point. They comically shared beers.

Willie Mack was diagnosed with a bruised larynx, but he is cleared to wrestle. Moose attacked. Mack prevailed in the end. Moose laughed in anticipation of their match at Turning Point.

Karl Anderson defeated Josh Alexander via DQ. Ethan Page and Luke Gallows were both ringside. Page tried to hook Anderson’s leg while running the ropes, so Anderson stomped on Page’s hand. That led to Page ruining the match. Both teams had to be separated by security.

That episode of Impact Wrestling had a lot of moving parts on the road to Turning Point. Surprisingly, everything made sense it its own way. They did a good job of keeping focus.

The biggest thing that caught me off guard was Madison Rayne taking the pin. I hope she recruits a friend from her past to give it one more try in the tournament. Impact pulled off a lot of intriguing little turns to finally lead to Tenille Dashwood and Jordynne Grace tagging together. I’m still not fully convinced their experiment at Turning Point will pay off in a partnership. That’s a sign of interesting storytelling.

Su Yung disposing of Kimber Lee was the creepiest moment. Deonna Purrazzo doesn’t stand much of a chance to win back the Knockouts Championship now. However, it might prove to be a strategic error on Su’s behalf. This gives Purrazzo time to regroup her wits and her courage. It would have been a much more effective tactic had it occurred at Turning Point.
