Additional details on WWE’s shocking release of Zelina Vega
As reported yesterday, Zelina Vega (real name Thea Trinidad) is no longer with WWE as she was released from her contract. Several reports are coming out about the reason why which of course aren’t from WWE directly. The timely announcement from WWE on her release coincided with a Twitter post she made about supporting unionization.
The timing of her tweet and the firing definitely led to a lot of speculation. According to a report by PWInsider, they state the rumor is that Trinidad had caught wind of her possible termination and her post may have been preemptive.
The release is being said to be more about her being so vocal about Twitch and her third part revenue she has been receiving from such platforms and less about vocalizing her want of unionization. They further report that her firing was likely to send a message for not going along and adhering to their new guidelines. Granted, WWE is not going to admit to that.
She more than likely will have to adhere to the standard 90-day non-compete clause. Seeing her in the upcoming IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament seems unlikely.
Another source, WrestleVotes also chimed in on the matter. Although it sounds like a different scenario involving Trinidad and her husband Aleister Black, there has certainly been frustrations brewing.
If you would like to watch and support Trinidad on social media platforms, here is a link to her various sites including her Twitch, YouTube, etc.
