MLW returns to TV tonight, and Davey Boy Jr. aims to break Jacob Fatu

MLW returns tonight!

You read that right. MLW’s 7-month hiatus is over. MLW Fusion has fresh episodes starting tonight (Nov. 18) on Fubo Sports at 7 pm ET & 10 pm ET, on MLW’s YouTube channel at 7 pm ET, and a variety of other platforms throughout the week. Let’s preview the festivities with two title fights.

MLW is bringing their heavy-hitters for The Restart. Fusion will feature three champions in action:

  • MLW World Heavyweight Championship: Jacob Fatu (c) vs Davey Boy Smith Jr.
  • MLW World Middleweight Championship: Myron Reed (c) vs Brian Pillman Jr.
  • Alexander Hammerstone kicking ass

Last we saw Davey Boy Smith Jr., he was left a bloody mess in a Tijuana stairwell when the Contra Unit attacked to take over MLW. Smith has since recovered from a broken back and is ready for revenge. Jacob Fatu has been an unstoppable wrecking ball of destruction during his reign as MLW kingpin.

For story and non-story reasons, I struggle to predict that Smith will claim gold, but I’m riding with him anyway. He has me sold when I look into his wild eyes.

Smith has the conviction and belief that he will win gold. True self-confidence is a heck of a performance enhancer.

Fellow Hart Foundation member, Brian Pillman Jr., will also get a chance at revenge and glory when he squares off against Myron Reed. Prior to the pandemic shutdown, Pillman had been the recipient of several ambush attacks from Injustice. Tonight is his night to make it all right. Winning the Middleweight title would be Pillman’s first singles belt in MLW. On the flip side, Reed is looking to stomp his mulleted nemesis and move on to greater challenges in establishing his legacy as the young GOAT.

There is also the lurking presence of Injustice mate Jordan Oliver. No doubt he’ll have an impact one way or another. This is another tough match to call. I want to root for Pillman, but I am also interested in seeing Reed’s quest for greatness. Hmm, I really can’t decide on a prediction. My rapid instinct is picking Pillman.

Hammerstone is the current MLW National Openweight Champion, but it is unclear at this moment if his title will be defended. Potential opponents could be Contra members. Hammerman led the charge to take back MLW headquarters and has his eyes set on competing for the Heavyweight strap against Fatu, assuming Fatu triumphs over Smith. Simon Gotch would put on a solid match with Hammer tonight. Or perhaps Hammerstone squashes multiple random jabrones under generic Contra masks.

I’m looking forward to all three bouts, but the real question I want answered is the battle of the tans. Who will be the bronzest between Alexander Hammerstone and Richard Holliday?

Granted, Holliday burned his face in a wager to top Hammerstone, but that doesn’t mean he won’t try again out of pride.

In commentary news, MLW is bringing Mister Saint Laurent to the booth alongside Rich Bocchini.
