Undertaker doesn’t know what he’s doing at Survivor Series either
WWE’s been telling us for week’s that this Sunday (Nov. 22) at Survivor Series, Undertaker will make his “Final Farewell”.
It sounds good. It’s 30 years to the day from his debut at the event back in 1990, when the pre-Thanksgiving PPV took place in Hartford, Connecticut. WrestleMania 36’s Boneyard Match was supposedly his final one, and we’ve had “30 Days of the Dead Man” on WWE Network leading up to Survivor Series. Tomorrow at ThunderDome seems like the right time and place to wrap up the celebration of Mark Calaway’s legendary character.
But nobody knows what this “Final Farewell” will entail. And that includes the Phenom himself.
On the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast this week, Jimmy Traina asked Calaway what we should we expect to see on Sunday. After he stopped laughing, Taker said this:
“You’ve got about as much knowledge as I do. Um [more laughter]… only thing I can safely say is at some point I will make an entrance and go to the ring and address the WWE Universe. And – that’s about as much as I know right now, tell you the truth.”
That was released on Thursday, so hopefully they’re ironed out a few details by now. But Calaway again told Traina the story of Vince McMahon deciding to have Brock Lesnar break the Streak at WrestleMania 30 the afternoon of the show (and says he thinks he could have talked him out of it), so Taker may find out tomorrow a few hours before we do.
If you need something to tide you over while we wait, check out Traina and Calaway’s entire conversation here.
