Delayed holiday TV numbers bring good news for NXT

WWE.com

Because of Thanksgiving here in the United States, it took a while to get the ratings and viewership data from the Nov. 25 (Nov. 18) NXT and AEW television shows. They arrived Monday afternoon, and while both shows were affected by the holiday, the numbers are probably still cause for good cheer in Orlando.

Per Showbuzz Daily, NXT outdrew Dynamite by 2000 viewers, 712K to 710K.

AEW won the ratings as usual, but with their numbers down considerably, NXT was able to close the gap – at least for a week. Dynamite finished seventh among cable nationals in 18 – 49 year old demographic with a .26, down considerably from their .37 the week prior. NXT rose to a .16, and jumped to 25th place overall.

It’s difficult to read too much into this. Was it a pre-turkey day aberration? Was the promise of a Kevin Owens appearance a big draw for NXT?

We’ll find out a lot more after we get this week’s numbers. AEW is promising a mini-PPV card with their “Winter is Coming” show on Dec. 2. NXT will be putting the finishing touches on their next WWE Network special, Dec. 6’s TakeOver: WarGames.
