SmackDown was the most watched wrestling show of the week

The overnight numbers are in, and barring a bigger conspiracy than even the one Rudy Giuliani is trying to prove these days, the Dec. 4 SmackDown was the most watched wrestling program on television over the past week.

I mean, it usually is. There’s just not a really interesting way to spin viewership and ratings figures that are pretty much the same as last Friday, and generally where they’ve been for months.

And, of course, I’m just shamelessly capitalizing on this week’s ratings banter.

The blue brand averaged 2.03 million viewers last night. It earned Fox a tie for second in the 18 – 49 demographic, sitting with a slate of ABC & CBS shows at a .5 (all behind Shark Tank, which scored a .6).

Here are the fast nationals:

And here’s our running tracker of overnight numbers for the new season, but you can access the tab of year one numbers here (all data still via Showbuzz Daily).

Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks are keeping folks coming back. It’s unlikely anything will be able to grow the audience during the winter holiday months, but WWE has built a solid base from which they can hopefully build once the new year brings Royal Rumble hype.

Until then, at least the blue brand has bragging rights over Tony Khan, Triple H, and Team Red.
