NXT goes with a WCW deep cut for its next themed episode
During TakeOver: WarGames, NXT announced their first episode of 2020 will be a themed episode, like October’s smash hit Halloween Havoc. Like that show, Jan. 6, 2021 will use an old WCW gimmick for its name, but this one isn’t as well known.
Here’s the WWE.com announcement for New Year’s Evil:
Ready for 2021? Prepare to ring in the new year with the black-and-gold brand!
NXT will present New Year’s Evil on Wednesday, Jan. 6.
How will the Superstars of NXT kick off 2021? What will the new year hold for champions Finn Balor and Io Shirai? Who will step up to take center stage, as the calendar turns toward a new era for the black-and-gold brand?
Find out by tuning in to NXT New Year’s Evil, Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 8/7 C on USA Network
If the New Year’s Evil brand doesn’t ring a bell, that’s because it’s kind of a deep cut. WCW used the name for an episode of Nitro that aired on Dec. 27, 1999. The bulk of the show went to the Lethal Lottery tag tournament.
Triple H & team brought back “Spin the wheel, make the deal” for Halloween Havoc. Could we see a “Lethal Lottery” for New Year’s Evil?
We’ll find out in 2021.
