AEW Rewind: Inner Circle montage, Hangman turns down Dark Orgy, more!

Sammy Guevara’s YouTube

Don’t have time to follow all of AEW’s online content? Don’t worry. We got you covered with the AEW Rewind, which will rewind through social media bits and YouTube videos from the past week to prepare you for Wednesday night Dynamite.

Tonight may be the final night for the Inner Circle as a faction in AEW. Chris Jericho is tired of the fussing, so he issued an ultimatum. Be one or they are done.

On Sammy Guevara’s vlog, the last scene was an Inner Circle ultimatum montage, starting at 17:37. Jake Hager, Ortiz, and Sammy each contemplated putting their issues with MJF and Wardlow aside, but it didn’t end on a happy note as Sammy put his cardboard cutout with a smiling Jericho into his closet. Unrelated to that scene, the best part of the video was the opener with Cody Rhodes wearing a luchador mask to have sex with Brandi.

I could see Hager and Ortiz biting the bullet for the greater good to keep the Inner Circle together, but Sammy seems too far gone with his dislike for MJF. I’d be more surprised if the Inner Circle remains a unit after tonight than if they split.

Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison showed chemistry in the ring when they defeated Colt Cabana and Alex Reynolds on Dark, however, their chemistry as buds needs some work.

Kris Statlander was the guest on Shot of Brandi (here). They drank rum pineapple cocktails and cooked black bean burgers. Recovery from her knee injury is going well. She is two weeks ahead of schedule compared to mere mortals. Brandi kept kayfabe alive with questions about Statlander’s alien arrival. Statlander evaded answers, in case the government was watching.

Lexy Nair interviewed John Silver and Alex Reynolds (here). They provided comical answers to the questions. Dating advice was for ladies to get a muscle pump before going out. They also clarified that Mr. Brodie Lee calling them ‘bitch boys’ is a sign of love. Lexy split when they asked her to join the Dark Order.

Being the Elite

“Heel Turn” – Being The Elite, Ep. 233 (here) featured:

  • Trent, Chuck Taylor, Aaron Solow, Evil Uno, and Shawn Dean played the card game Uno to determine the next contender for John Silver’s BTE Championship. Dean won and next week’s challenge will be throwing Skittles on a wall.
  • Nick Jackson had an inner monologue about being thrown in a trashcan by TH2 during Dynamite. He also pointed out that their segment on the show was the highest viewed at 1.1 million.
  • Ortiz, Dasha Gonzalez, and Diamante tried to locate Santana using the MiPhone. They busted Alex Abrahantes watching Dark Order videos and sipping on purple drink.
  • Alex Reynolds and Silver put out a trail of whiskey drinks to lure Hangman Page into their lair.
  • Frankie Kazarian lost his cool at Brandon Cutler being a mark for wearing a “Do ya!?!” shirt.
  • Marko Stunt wished Matt Hardy luck in his match. Hardy replied by taking credit for breaking barriers for small guys to get in the business.
  • Dark Order partied hard and took body shots.
  • Fuego del Sol and Cutler shared playful trash-talk before their match on Dark.
  • Hardy touched base with Private Party. Isiah Kassidy was upset about being tossed out of the battle royale by Hardy. Matt blamed Kassidy for not being athletic enough to save himself. Matt also blamed his own elimination on being too distracted with concern for Marq Quen. They regrouped by chalking it up as a lesson in tough love. The trio all left together so Hardy could show them something special.
  • The Young Bucks chatted with a nervous Kenny Omega before his title match against Jon Moxley. They planned to prepare a celebration room for the new champ.
  • Hangman found the drinks but wasn’t interested in the Dark Order’s party. He was put off by them being sloppy drunks. Page only wanted to take a bottle to go. Evil Uno was soused and misread a poem asking Hangman to join the Dark Orgy. Page declined the offer.
  • The Bucks were stunned at Omega’s exit and unhappy with his despicable act of turning heel.

After Hangman’s cooperation with the Dark Order during last week’s battle royale, it looks like we have to slow down on him joining the group. All hope is not lost though. He may have not been interested in the dark orgy part, but he did take it as an odd compliment.

We’ll close with a fun game involving Cody Rhodes and Dwight Schrute.
