AEW Dynamite sets another ratings record

AEW Dynamite

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (Dec. 9) NXT and AEW television shows.

Per ShowBuzzDaily, Dynamite netted 995,000 viewers for a .45 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. NXT checked in with 659,000 viewers for a .17 rating point in the same 18-49 demo.

For AEW, this is an increase of about 82,000 viewers from the prior week, with a rise from last week’s 0.42 demo rating. For NXT, viewership increased by 1,000 viewers from the prior week, and the demo rating was slightly up from last week’s 0.16.

AEW remained in 2nd place in the demo rating for the night, while NXT improved from 40th to 37th place.

These numbers are terrific for AEW. Last week’s “Winter is coming” episode saw Sting make his AEW debut as well as Kenny Omega defeating Jon Moxley for the world championship. It looks like the big angles coming out of that show kept the audience coming back for more, while perhaps bringing in some lapsed fans. Dynamite was right on the cusp of one million total viewers. The 0.45 demo rating once again set their record high for 2020, surpassing last week’s 0.42.

Meanwhile, NXT’s numbers continue to embody the word “stagnation.” Total viewers remained roughly the same from last week, and the demo rating is also around the same area where it’s typically been over the last couple months. They were probably hoping for more growth coming out of the TakeOver: WarGames event from this past weekend. Will the return of Karrion Kross be the kickstart that Triple H’s promotion is looking for?
