MLW Roundup: Holliday’s great holiday video, Lio Rush title fight

Richard Holliday’s Twitter

Let’s catch up on the latest news in MLW and preview tonight’s episode of MLW Fusion.

The holiday season is here, and Richard Holliday has a gift for you. Enjoy his fantastic short film to spread cheer.

Holliday’s reaction to seeing that lady with AirPods slays me with laughter. This film also shows Holliday’s marketing genius to stay on brand for his consumers.

In other holiday trends, ChristMance trees are taking the world by storm. Or, they should be once enough people see the idea.

I bet every single gift under the tree is a light beer.

Opera Cup semifinal on MLW Fusion

One half of the Opera Cup final is set with Low Ki punching his ticket. The other slot will be determined tonight when Tom Lawlor battles ACH. In preparation, ACH took tutelage from the Von Erichs to provide scouting tips on Lawlor.

The other feature bout for the evening will see two MLW singles debuts in LA Park Jr. versus Bu Ku Dao. LA Park Jr. obviously hails from the loins of LA Park. There’s no surprise in what style to expect there. Dao credits TJP as a mentor. Dao is only 5 feet tall, so I’m curious if he’ll have the chops to overcome the size disadvantage.

Mads Krugger is back dish out more pain. This time he will pummel two men. Of all the debuts on this episode, I’m most eager to see Budd Heavy. I don’t know anything about the guy, but I don’t need to know anything about him with a name like that. Heavy will be teaming with Daniel Starling against Krugger.

Krugger better watch his back, because Alexander Hammerstone has been cleared to compete. Hammer returns to the ring against an unnamed opponent. I suspect it will be more jabroni city than a meaningful challenge.

Also advertised for Fusion is the newest set of Pro Wrestling Illustrated top 10. The rankings list contenders for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. One man I never considered to be the savior to take down the Jacob Fatu and the Contra Unit is Marshall Von Erich, but I’m all for it. That is if Fatu can get past Hammerstone.

MLW Fusion streams on Fubo Sports Network Wednesday nights at 7 pm ET and 10 pm ET, posts on YouTube Wednesdays at 7 pm ET, and airs on beIN SPORTS Saturday nights at 10 pm ET. You can also check out MLW streaming on demand with DAZN. In addition, MLW is broadcast in over 20 countries.

Quick hits

The biggest news of the week is the confirmation of Lio Rush as the next challenger for Myron Reed’s MLW Middleweight Championship. That title fight is set as one of the main events for the Kings of Colosseum special on January 6. Reed is coming off an impressive defense over Brian Pillman Jr. Rush has been competing around the globe, so rust won’t be an issue when he steps into an MLW ring.

Calvin Tankman is being pursued by managers. Team Filthy, Konnan, and Salina de la Renta all have their eye on Heavyweight Hustle.

The Von Erichs cut a silly kung fu promo to promote MLW programming on Wataaa TV.

Mance Warner provided a heath update on his aching neck.

We’ll close with Hammerstone demonstrating the proper technique for a schoolboy.

When you have muscles like Hammerman, every pin should include a powerbomb.

Proclaim your prediction for the Opera Cup semifinal between Tom Lawlor and ACH. Are you giving the edge to Myron Reed or Lio Rush for their title fight? Who is in your top 10 for MLW?
