Man accused of cyberbullying Hana Kimura could face charges soon

Hana Kimura

Japan Times is reporting that the man suspected by Tokyo Metropolitan Police of cyberbullying Hana Kimura is to be referred to prosecutors soon.

Police believe that the man in his twenties sent Kimura multiple abusive messages and death threats via social media. Further reports state that Tokyo police are said to be investigating over 1200 posts from 600+ accounts.

The online abuse was the result of Kimura’s appearances in a reality show ‘Terrace House.’ On the show, Kimura was portrayed as aggressive and confrontational after another housemate destroyed her wrestling gear. The show was cancelled and no further episodes from that season were released following her death.

In May the awful news broke that Kimura had passed away in her apartment at the age of 22. Her passing led to laws in Japan surrounding social media to be altered in order to stop cyberbullying.

Kimura was one of STARDOM’s top and much-loved wrestlers. She had been wrestling for four years since age of 17.

T-shirts available to purchase from Prowrestlingtees that directly support Kimura’s family.
