Let’s catch up on the latest news in MLW and preview tonight’s episode of MLW Fusion.

Opera Cup final on Fusion

Tom Lawlor and Low Ki are set to renew their rivalry with a historic prize on the line tonight on MLW Fusion. This time, the winner will take home the Opera Cup trophy.

Lawlor’s path to the tournament final included victories over Rocky Romero and ACH, while Low Ki overcame Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Richard Holliday. Lawlor is 2-0 in previous MLW matches against Low Ki. Both were for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. Low Ki has enlisted the tutelage of Homicide to aid in his training this week.

I’m anticipating the duel between Lawlor and Low Ki to be the best of their personal series. The first two battles were more in the style of dirty fights. Tonight’s bout should be a rugged athletic competition.

Also scheduled is the return of Colonel Parker’s Stud Stable. Leo Brien and Michael Patrick will be managed by Aria Blake as they aim to send a message in the ring to the tag division, particularly the Von Erichs as champs.

In addition, Los Parks have an ultimatum for MLW. I’m guessing that will revolve around their desire for title shots.

MLW Fusion streams on Fubo Sports Network Wednesday nights at 7 pm ET and 10 pm ET, posts on YouTube Wednesdays at 7 pm ET, and airs on beIN SPORTS Saturday nights at 10 pm ET. You can also check out MLW streaming on demand with DAZN. In addition, MLW is broadcast in over 20 countries.

Quick hits

Get ready for big men to collide. Alexander Hammerstone is set to defend the MLW National Openweight Championship against the Contra Unit’s black hand, Mads Krugger. It will be added to the Kings of Colosseum card on January 6 along with the previously signed MLW World Middleweight Championship bout between Myron Reed and Lio Rush.

Jordan Oliver will finally get his chance to fight Simon Gotch in an officially sanctioned bout. It is also set to go down at Kings of Colosseum on January 6.

Richard Holliday held a caption contest for a still from his short film. When it was time to announce the winner, Holliday was dissatisfied with the pathetic effort by the consumers.

Holliday’s Dynasty brother, Hammerstone, was in a more cheerful mood for the holidays.

We’ll close with a message from Salina de la Renta.

It would be a funny joke from the universe if Salina’s soulmate was Konnan. He could torment her for eternity as a soulmate of war.

Who are you picking to win the Opera Cup final? How much meat can Hammerstone beat when he meets with Mads Krugger?
