AEW Rewind: Austin Gunn rap song, BTE Christmas special, more!

BTE’s YouTube

Don’t have time to follow all of AEW’s online content? Don’t worry. We got you covered with the AEW Rewind, which will rewind through social media bits and YouTube videos from the past week to prepare you for Wednesday night Dynamite.

Max Caster of The Acclaimed isn’t the only rapper in AEW. Austin Gunn dropped a freestyle of his own. It is more of a legit song than a jokey gimmick.

Is it time for AEW to have a freestyle rap division?

Arn Anderson was satisfied with Cody Rhodes’ win over Angelico. Arn also warned Cody not to trust Sting. He may have saved Cody this time, but don’t expect the same in the future.

Miro put out his own video to do a better job explaining his motivations than in his quick promos on Dynamite. Life is about numbers and influence. He is here in AEW to be influential, hurt people, make money, and look pretty doing it.

The last line is a winner. “Professional wrestling is such a great business, but it’s a simple business. They pay me to hurt you, and I’m all in.”

Being the Elite

“A Christmas, Carol?” – Being The Elite, Ep. 235 (here) featured:

  • Dark Order sang Christmas carols throughout the show. They hit up Griff Garrison and Frankie Kazarian. After failing to spread cheer, the Dark Order turned on Christmas. Colt Cabana had to rally them for one last try. The final scene was a personalized song for Hangman Page to the tune of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Hangman was confused, but they talked him into hanging out for Christmas.
  • Frankie Kazarian got the Scrooge treatment. Christopher Daniels warned him about being mean to Brandon Cutler and how Kaz needs anger management. Trent was ghost of Christmas past with a montage of Kaz’s insults to Cutler. Chuck Taylor was ghost of Christmas present with a scene about Cutler getting on the sauce. That mark mistook steroids for hot sauce. Orange Cassidy was the ghost of Christmas future. He showed a headline of Cutler beating Kaz in a match. That cut Kaz to the bone to fully embrace his faults. There was no way Kaz would allow putting that mark over, so he finally agreed to anger management and hugged Cutler.
  • The Young Bucks had to pay $800 for a table broken by the Dark Order.
  • John Silver determined his next #1 contender for the BTE Championship with a game of high card/low card. Marko Stunt outlasted Anna Jay, Chuck Taylor, Brian Pillman Jr., Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Kip Sabian, and Sammy Guevara. Next week will be a water bottle cap contest between Silver and Stunt.
  • Matt Hardy has a special music project coming up. Ghost Town will debut December 28.
  • Hardy was proud of Private Party for the trios win last week. He wanted appreciation for letting them sit under his iconic learning tree. The Young Bucks walked in wondering if Hardy was feeling okay. He went into a speech about dying on the inside. Hardy is tired of giving, and it is time to take.
  • Orange Cassidy fed snacks to Kris Statlander.
  • Kip Sabian asked Leva Bates if she let him win at video games. She denied such an idea. When Kip called her a loser, she told the camera that she let him win.

This was a pleasant episode that fans of Christmas media should enjoy. The references were bountiful and creative. The Kaz drama had a good payoff for a BTE story that has brewed for weeks. The Hardy scene was a funny way to justify things from his point of view. I think we could all learn about pounding from him.

We’ll close with new merch. The Rhodes family wasted no time making baby clothes in honor of Brandi’s pregnancy.

Matt Sydal, Will Hobbs, Top Flight, and Wardlow also have new duds on the market.
