Bryan planted seeds for WrestleMania match with Reigns on Talking Smack

DB becomes the latest person to give Paul Heyman a message for the Head of the Table on the SmackDown post-show.

There are several reasons why Talking Smack has become a worthwhile way to spend a half-hour of your weekend. (Tribal) Chief among them is that with Paul Heyman as co-host, the SmackDown post-show is a great vehicle for teasing, building and adding layers to Universal champion Roman Reigns’ storylines.

Kevin Owens used it to great effect over the past month, and Heyman & new Intercontinental champ Big E continued some work they started a few weeks back on today’s episode.

Much of the chatter coming out of the Talking Smack that hit WWE Network on Dec. 26 however is focused on Daniel Bryan. After revealing he’s never won a battle royal in his career – a timely factoid considering he’s the first person officially entered in the next month’s Royal Rumble – DB followed up his win over Jey Uso by giving Reigns’ special counsel a message to relay to the Head of the Table.

“If I win the Royal Rumble, that means that I will go to WrestleMania and face whoever’s the Universal Champion. And Paul, I don’t lay claim to being better than many people, at certain things. But I’ll tell you this – I’m a better fighter than Roman Reigns, and I sure as hell am a better wrestler than Roman Reigns.

“And if I win the Royal Rumble and face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, he’s still the champion, I will beat him for that championship. Here’s another thing. If he’s not champion, somewhere down the line I’m going to beat him anyways.”

As great as that promo is, the most cold blooded thing might be the way DB flips the switch when he’s done making Heyman nervous and just compliments Kayla Braxton on her jacket.

The only problem with all this is now I can’t decide who I want to face Reigns at WrestleMania 37. Bryan? E? KO? Drew McIntyre? And there’s no telling who else Talking Smack might add to the mix in the coming months!

This is a good problem to have.
