Report: Top NXT star will be called up to the main roster

WWE.com

Earlier today we covered the story going around about Damian Priest’s call-up to the WWE main roster being nixed, but still in the plans for later this month.

It turns out that he is not the only NXT star on the move. In addition to Priest’s imminent call-up, PW Insider says that we can expect to see former NXT women’s champion Rhea Ripley follow suit:

“…the current belief is that last night’s New Year’s Evil broadcast was planned to be the final NXT appearances for Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest and they each will be shifted to the main roster. While things can always change based on the whims of Vince McMahon, Priest’s loss to Karrion Kross and Rhea’s loss to Raquel Gonzales were devised with the idea those were the end of the NXT chapters of their career.”

Given Ripley’s recent booking in NXT, and with the Royal Rumble coming up on Jan. 31, many fans have already suspected that we could see Ripley called up sooner rather than later.

Ripley had a taste of the main roster last year when she was involved in a WrestleMania 36 program with Charlotte Flair. Ripley tapped out and dropped her NXT championship to The Queen.

Do you expect Ripley will shake up the landscape of the women’s Royal Rumble match and once again land in a high profile championship match at WrestleMania 37?
