Serena Deeb is riding high in the latest AEW rankings

AEW released their latest rankings (Jan. 13, 2021) during Dynamite. The records will be a little off, since last night’s action isn’t reflected. Let’s check out the movers and shakers anyway.

Men:

The men’s rankings remain the same. After Brian Cage lost to Darby Allin in the TNT Championship bout, there is a good chance he gets the boot from the top 5. I’d predict PAC’s win over Eddie Kingston has enough juice to rank the Englishman next week.

Women:

Serena Deeb moved up two spots to #2. It is highly likely that she will earn the #1 position next week after her successful NWA Women’s Championship defense against Tay Conti on Dynamite. That situation would pose an interesting predicament. Deeb shouldn’t be losing as NWA champ unless it is to Hikaru Shida. That is a PPV-level match for AEW, so Deeb might keep the top spot locked down for several weeks. Not that #1 guarantees a title shot anyway.

Abadon dropped from #3 to #5 after her loss to Shida. Nyla Rose moved down one and Penelope Ford moved up one due to the other shifts.

Tag Team:

Best Friends have been eliminated. They were previously ranked #2. Trent’s injury means they won’t be competing as a unit anytime soon. Santana & Ortiz gained the benefit of the Best Friends’ misfortune to pop into the rankings at #5. That status will be put to the test next week in the Inner Circle three-way against Jericho & MJF and Sammy & Hager.

Jurassic Express, Dark Order, and The Acclaimed all moved up one spot with the absence of Trent and Chuck Taylor.

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
