Here’s Hikaru Shida doing the Omega broom dance
Kenny Omega changed up his entrance and overall presentation in late October 2020. I thought the whole thing was pretty amazing. In addition to the obnoxious list of accolades (like Meltzer star ratings) that the ring announcer runs down every time, it includes a broom dance routine in celebration of The Cleaner. With such an over-the-top display of his star power, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Omega defeated Jon Moxley for the AEW world championship just six weeks later.
Hikaru Shida is also a world champion in AEW, and she just recently survived a zombie apocalypse. If that’s not worth dancing about, I don’t know what is. In the above video, Shida partners up with NFL cheerleader Keiko Honda to master the Omega broom dance. As a wrestling blogger who has no dance skills whatsoever, or really any other notable skills besides proficiency in calculus and watching a lot of Conan O’Brien late night television over the years, I was quite impressed with how quickly Shida picked up all the required steps.
You can check out the full video to see Shida learn all the moves from Honda, or you can skip ahead to about 16:00 if you just want to see the final product.
Let us know in the comments below if you think that you can do the Omega broom dance just as well as Shida pulls it off.
