McIntyre can’t wait to have his true WrestleMania moment in front of live fans

Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship last year in the main event of WrestleMania 36. It was supposed to be this incredibly memorable moment that 90,000 fans packed into a huge stadium could loudly lose their minds over. But thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, crickets could almost be heard while McIntyre was raising the title inside an empty warehouse in Orlando. These are strange times, indeed.

With WWE recently confirming that they are planning to have live fans inside Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida, on Apr. 10 and Apr. 11 for both nights of WrestleMania 37, as well as rumored estimates about the number of fans who will be allowed to attend, this year’s event is shaping up to have quite a different feel to it.

Naturally, current WWE champion Drew McIntyre sounds like the happiest guy in the world to finally have some fans back while he’s the top star in the promotion. In an interview with WFLA, Drew explained just how excited he is about the news:

“It’s the one thing we’ve been missing all year. It’s our number one Superstar, our secret sauce, what makes WWE special is how passionate and loud, and knowledgeable our fanbase are. They can change the pace of a match. They can make an average match good, a good match great, or if an interview is going on in the ring that they don’t like, they’ll crap all over it.

And if you don’t know what you’re doing it, if you’re not getting your job and you can’t roll with the punches, then you probably don’t deserve to be in front of those fans. That’s what makes them so special, they love the product so much. And we miss them. We miss the live interaction. We see everything on social media. We hear the reactions live in the ThunderDome. But to have the fans there in person, that’s what I’m looking forward to the most.”

Of course, McIntyre can’t wait to show off his gold in front of those live fans:

“So I’m really excited to hear more about that as the weeks go on, and actually be able to walk out with my WWE title and be able to hold it up in front of fans.”

In order for that to happen, Drew McIntyre will first have to defeat Goldberg on Jan. 31 at Royal Rumble. But there’s probably nothing to worry about there. I mean, WWE wouldn’t really book Goldberg to beat their top champion before WrestleMania in two consecutive years, right? Of course not.
